May 08, 2008 - Barefoot Beach Rescue Project

Hey Y’all

I wanted to remind you of the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project that Tristan Prettyman and I are involved with. We are trying to get everyone down to a bunch of different beaches all around the country to participate in an environmentally conscious beach cleanup day. After the beach cleanup there will be a concert by Tristan and/or myself right by the beach. The concerts are free to those who register to volunteer at the cleanup.

The Surfrider Foundation has teamed up with Barefoot Wine to make it all happen. You can register online to join up and vote for your favorite beach. Whichever beach gets the most votes will get an additional concert.

May 06, 2008 - Peace, Love, Happiness Wrap

I’m pulling into NYC right now and after a week out in LA it feels good to be back on the East Side. We had a killer week in LA--we banged out some press for the Superhero Brother release on 6/24 and shot the video for PLH.

Steve Oritt (Director of A Year and A night) has already completed the video for the title track Superhero Brother and now we have Peace, Love and Happiness almost in the can. The video was shot over the skies of Los Angeles between the hours of 4pm to 10pm.  We certainly caught all the magic hours on old school 16mm film. I was hanging out of the side of a helicopter playing my guitar and harmonica while we sped along at 90 mph.  Needless to say, it was an exhilarating, somewhat terrifying and a freezing f!#*kin cold evening of inspiration! At the end of the night we all knew that we had shot something special.

I saw Steve last night right after they had finished transferring the film and he was just freaking on how beautiful the footage is. I really can’t wait for you all to check it and it should be done in a couple weeks!

Other than that we are just getting ready to finish the artwork on the record—the Brushfire team has been really making it happen. By the end of the day tomorrow the completed record will be delivered.

Apr 30, 2008 - Summer Tour

Greetings! I’m out here in LA now getting ready to make the video for Peace, Love and Happiness. The new record Superhero Brother drops June 24th and you know what that means right?!? That’s right we will be hitting the road hard all summer.
 
We are honored to announce Australia’s own The John Butler Trio as our very special guests for the summer.  We will also be adding another guest in the next few weeks so stay tuned for that. The tour is going coast to coast and will most definitely be coming to a theater near you.  Stay tuned to find out how you can get backstage, get a copy of “Superhero Brother” and meet the band. Apr 28, 2008 - Video Shoot

Greetings friends…The new record drops on June 24th and is titled “Superhero Brother”. Thanks so much for your help with the title. “Down and Dirty” was a close second but SHB won out.

The first single is a tune called “Peace, Love and Happiness”. I wrote this tune in Brazil immediately after Donovan Frankenriter and I played for the surfer children of the Favella. I was so inspired by these energetic youths and the love and light that they emanated during our outreach that I went right to my room and wrote “Peace, Love and Happiness” in 1 hour and played it for the children at the concert that night!

We are all set to shoot the video on May 1st in LA. Director Steven Oritt, who also shot and directed our documentary, “A Year and A night” will direct the PLH video. The video concept is simple I’m going to be hanging out the side of a chopper flying over Los Angeles. My Mother is all kinds of worried but I really can’t wait!  Stay tuned.

So my friend Savannah Buffett called me last night after she had just seen the premiere of the slamming new Tina Fey, Amy Poehler movie “Baby Mama”. She said the movie was cool and even cooler because the GLaSS song “Hot Cooking” was in it. This is cool man! Go check it out cause I know you’re gonna love it!

Yo everybody what’s up? I’m dropping a line to tell you that my good friend and partner in crime Tristan Prettyman has just released her new record “Hello”. It’s really very tasty and as I write this I’m listening to it. Every song is just flowing through my mind in the nicest way, soothing my worried soul. I highly recommend checking it out…

Tristan told me she wrote a song about the Philly kid as well. Its called “Handshake” so check it out. Anyways, I’m so pumped for Tristan who has done amazing this week so thanks to everyone who picked up her record because she is gonna make a big splash today on the Billboard top 200 charting in the top 30. That’s a pretty huge feat! I’m just excited about the music and how well its being received. Spread the word.

Thanks to everyone who voted on the title for the new G. Love record. After tallying the votes Superhero Brother came out on top and will be the title of G. Love’s 10th full length release! What a trip…Superhero Brother will hit the streets on June 24th, 2008. The album features hits like “Peace, Love and Happiness”, “Wiggle Worm”, “Who’s got the Weed”, “Communication” and of course “Superhero Brother”. G. Love will shoot the video for the single in LA in the next few weeks.

Apr 09, 2008 - GLaSS Delivers New Record

After two and a half killer recording sessions, G. Love and Special Sauce with producer Chris DiBeneditto have delivered their 7th LP to Brushfire Records. The record is slated to drop on Tuesday, June 24th, 2008. This record is our 10th official release and so we gots big plans!

The record is about life, love, family, weed and politics. The goal of this record is to save our world with our music. This record is the result of the two most productive, positive and well played recording sessions we have ever had. . This recording also marks the first time we have recorded as a four piece with the addition of Mark Boyce on the keys. The organ and piano has definitely warmed up the sound, however, the sound is still pretty raw. The whole record was recorded live. We used 3 studios. The first session was in The Studio in Philly. The second session was at Long View Farms outside of Boston. The final sessions were at the Philadelphonic Studios. I can’t wait for you all to hear what I am certain is going to be one of your favorite G.L.A.S.S record ever. Stay tuned for more release updates as well as a video journal of the making of the record.
